LANXESS Introduces New Dye to Solve Yellowing Problem in PET Bottles

Natural PET itself has the characteristic of yellowing. Although yellowing has no effect on the bottle material, it has attracted the attention of beverage manufacturers because they need the appearance of the packaging container to be clear and transparent. In response, the Functional Chemicals Business Unit of LANXESS, a specialty chemicals group, has introduced Macrolex colorants such as Macrolex Red 5B, Macrolex Violet 3R, and Macrolex Blue 2B, which will help solve the problem of PET yellowing.

By adding Macrolex dye during the product polymerization, clear, transparent, light blue or light blue transparent PET can be obtained. At the same time, Macrolex dyes do not migrate from PET to liquids. This key point is of great importance to PET manufacturers. It is worth mentioning that when the dyestuff is used in food packaging and food contact applications, it meets the regulations of the world in terms of high purity and safety, and is obtained from agencies including the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Approved.
